Western Kentucky Hilltopper Quarterback Brandon Doughty Wins Sammy Baugh Award After Finishing the Top Passing QB in College Football

Heading into the 2014 season quarterback Brandon Doughty focused on eliminating turnovers, growing as a leader, and improving any inconsistencies in his field play. Spending 2 solid weeks in South Florida with Ken Mastrole and the Mastrole Quarterback Academy paid dividends. Doughty had a season to remember in passing as well as drama filled Bahamas Bowl game. In his historic 2014 season, Doughty has established 14 WKU single-season, single-game and records while also setting Conference USA records with 593 passing yards at rival Middle Tennessee and by throwing six touchdowns in one half in a win over previously undefeated Marshall. Doughty finished as the nation’s leader in passing yards (4,344) and touchdowns (44) and ranks 35th and 16th in those categories in FBS single-season history. The winner of the Sammy Baugh award for the Nations top passing quarterback.
